The End of Football Season

Last night, the regular season came to an end for high school football teams around the St. Louis metro area. For some teams, dreams have come true. For others, dreams have been crushed. For some, attention will turn to the offseason, as younger players look to grow and mature and train for next season. The winter is when games are really won: in the weight room, on the sidewalk, and at the dinner table.

The end of season is the culmination of a year of handwork from the offseason to the week-to-week grind of a physically taxing sport. Those days of pushing through aches and fatigue all lead to this: win or go home. For seniors playing their last game at home, or their last game ever, this is a profound moment with complex emotions. The rush of the final game will eventually give way to a sadness that, for those who aren’t playing in college, this will be the last time wearing pads.

To see a senior in tears in the locker room after their last game is not uncommon. Football takes your heart and soul to compete for four years. It’s impossible to perform in such a physical game without emotional fuel.

To the seniors wrapping up their careers, we salute you.

To the teams who are still in the race, remember that Winning Streak can turn custom t-shirt orders around in a matter of days. That means we can have your playoff shirt in time for your next game if your order soon. Keep that in mind if you win the championship. Nobody wants to wait around for championship tees.
